JCAS on the streets
It’s one of the best-kept secrets in our community: JCAS distributes $1 million annually to fund vital teacher’s assistants for approximately 250 children across 11 Melbourne Jewish day schools. This support is completely life-changing for these kids and their families, yet outside of our iconic, high-profile Posh Opp Shoppes, the JCAS name itself remains relatively unknown. We want to change that. Because the need for classroom inclusion continues to grow, our profile needs

The medals had been donated to the Posh Opp Shoppe but Jason and the team recognised that the medals would have been important to the recipient and his family. After a year-long search involving the RSL, the medals were returned to Warrant Officer Peters’ family in fitting recogni

Focus on……The Orah Fund
Tell us about Orah? The Orah Fund was started several years ago with the aim of building a new revenue stream for our community – a revenue stream that is not based upon individual donations. The concept is simple. Almost everyone in our community invests some of their money with fund managers, so we decided to build a funds management business that is effectively 100% owned by the community and where all of the fees that are made by this business are donated to Jewish char

On November 7, Rosalie Silverstein visited Sholem Aleichem College at the invitation of Einat Orbach, Head of Jewish Studies. As part of Mitzve Week, Rosalie spoke to the primary students about the value of giving and shared the story of the Posh Opp Shoppe. The school community was welcoming and full of care. The children sang Yiddish songs, adding a joyful touch to the occasion, and overall it was a truly memorable visit. At the same time, the school launched a donation dri

End of year is a great time for JCAS and Posh to thank our many staff and volunteers. They work tirelessly all year, so to stop and take some time to appreciate our achievements and enjoy each other's company is also fun. See a few pics of everyone who attended. We had lots of fabulous speeches and some wonderful singing from Dov Farkas. Thank you Dov for your support and for entertaining us, and most importantly thank you to all our volunteers and staff. On Nov 25, Caulfield held their Volunteer awards night. We are so proud to announce that our very own Leslie won an award. Pictured here receiving her award, Leslie Burt has been coming to the shop as a volunteer for 8 years, 2 days a week. She splits her time between our Glenhuntly and our Elsternwick shops. She helps with clothing, art or any area she thinks is messy. She is a non stop machine and we are very grateful to her.
