As the parent of a child with special needs, I cannot overstate how much having an incredible aide has meant for our son, and our family. Thanks to JCAS, our son has been able to remain fully immersed in the Jewish community and culture, attending a Jewish school that values every child's right to a meaningful Jewish education. The aide supports him not only in the classroom, but also during social interactions, such as outdoor playtime with his peers. In the aftermath of the events on October 7th, the importance of our children remaining connected to their Jewish identity and community has become even more profound. I cannot imagine our son being anywhere other than in a Jewish school, where he is surrounded by the warmth and strength of our heritage. Through JCAS and the dedicated efforts of the yeshivah staff, our son has been given the tools to thrive within our community school, which is infused with the beauty of our traditions. Seeing him happy, engaged, and celebrated for who he is fills our hearts with much nachas. Every Jewish child deserves not only to remain connected to our culture and traditions but also to be honored for who they are. This support ensures that my child, and children like him, receive the respect and dignity they deserve to partake in our community's school. It embodies the true meaning of diversity and inclusion, creating a space where all children are valued and celebrated as essential members of our community. We are so thankful for the holy work of JCAS and the yeshivah team. Support from JCAS has enabled greater 1-1 support for students both within and outside the classroom. We have approximately 7 Learning Support Officers who are allocated to our students to support them with completion of individual assignments in a variety of subjects, as well as assist them to access assessment tasks at their ability level. Learning Support Officers provide adjustments to students in the classroom such as clarification, breaking down tasks and re-focusing. Some students have gained a greater connection to the school and others have been observed to develop increased self-confidence and pride in their academic achievements. We are very grateful for the support from JCAS.
